The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1952, which, when convicted, carries the mandatory death penalty.

Omar added that a test of the suspect's urine sample revealed traces of drugs and had no criminal record.

Additional interrogations revealed that the suspect had received drugs from a shipper in West Malaysia via a courier service.

Omar said the seizure was part of the efforts of former Kota Kinabalu police chief, ACP Chandrasehkaran Muthu, and his team to eradicate drug cases in the district.

"This is an ongoing effort to eliminate the distribution of drugs, which we hoped to improve in order to achieve greater success.

"We also thank the public for providing information to the police. Statistics on arrests from 1 January to 31 October this year amounted to 1 859 suspects, against 1 380 for the same period last year.
