JOHOR BARUPolice arrested another suspect suspected of being directly involved in the murder of a laundress and her friend on November 1st.

Kamaluddin Kassim, head of IDC Johor, said the suspect, who also works as a launderer in Singapore, was arrested on November 4 at a house in Jalan Kejayaan, Taman Universiti, near Skudai.

Kamaluddin said the 32-year-old suspect was arrested at 9:30 pm

"According to the investigation conducted, we believe that the suspect was directly involved in the murder.

"Further investigations and actions to gather evidence for support will be continued," he said when he made contact with Bernama, here today.

Kamaluddin said the latest arrest increased the number of suspects detained so far to four, ranging from 26 to 46 years old.

"Two of them were released on bail by the police today while the investigations were over, while the other two were still in custody," he said.

He added that the two suspects were in custody for six days, until November 10.

At the incident last Thursday, a female washerwoman, K. Kamala, aged 51, and her friend, S. Silvaraja, aged 59, were found dead at 9 am Kamala's daughter, returning home after work.

Kamala's body was found in the bedroom, injured in the back, while the remains of Silvaraja were found in the living room.

The police eventually succeeded in arresting the three suspects suspected of being linked to the killing of the two victims the night of the bodies' discovery. – Bernama
