More surprises – three PKR divisions in Sabah will be re-elected

POLS PKR | The PKR divisions of Tawau, Keningau and Pensiangan will have to be re-elected, which would mean that the race for the vice-presidency of the party could be relegated to the background.

When contacted today, Rashid Din, chairman of the PKR Election Committee (JPP), confirmed that the three divisions should be re-elected next Sunday.

This decision should be confirmed by the meeting of the political bureau of the party to be chaired by the party chairman. de facto Chief Anwar Ibrahim.

Elections for PKR divisions in Keningau and Tawau were initially held on Nov. 3, while those in Pensiangan Division were held Nov. 4.

Although the JPP has not yet released the results for the three divisions, unofficial accounts have named the outgoing PKR MP, Mohamed Azmin Ali, winner in Tawau and his challenger Rafizi Ramli winner in Pensiangan and Keningau.

Global, MalaysiakiniThe unofficial count of the results had placed Azmin at 3,202 votes in front of Rafizi.

With the election results of the three divisions now canceled, MalaysiakiniThe unofficial count of this ranking still places Azmin with an advance of about 3,000 votes.

The election of Keningau was tainted by disturbances while the vote in Pensiangan was extended to around 20 hours, well beyond the cut-off time of 17:00, observed elsewhere.

Rafizi had won by a landslide in Pensiangan.

Broad membership

Yesterday, Rafizi claimed that he could have been in the lead with 3,000 votes had there been no sabotage in Sabah.

Unless re-elected, this weekend should be the last round of voting for the deadly party elections, which began Oct. 22.

The Sarawak PKR will vote Saturday, while some divisions of Negeri Sembilan, Malacca and Sabah will be re-elected on Sunday.

However, this weekend, the focus will be on the Julau (Sarawak), Pensiangan and Tawau divisions, which have a high number of members.
