That’s the verdict of renowned sports commentator Jon Champion.
Solari was handed a contract until 2021 yesterday after a successful spell as interim boss.
The Argentine coach won all of his four matches in charge to steady the ship after Julen Lopetegui was sacked just 14 games into his tenure.
But there is scepticism as to how long Solari will remain in the job with Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho both mooted as possible targets for the summer.
The former Real Madrid Castilla tactician has been handed permanent control in similar circumstances to Zinedine Zidane, who was also the B-team boss before three years in charge at the Bernabeu.
Zidane was initially only a temporary appointment but won the Champions League in his first season and went on to win the European trophy in his next two campaigns, also adding a La Liga triumph, before resigning in May.
And Champion thinks that if Solari is to follow in the Frenchman’s footsteps then he must take Los Blancos to the title.
Asked what he needs to do to keep his job, Champion told ESPN FC: “I think doing something unexpected will keep him there next season, which is probably winning the league.
“That’s not beyond the bounds of possibility – they’re only four points off [first-placed Barcelona] at the moment.
“It is an inconsistent Barcelona by their own high standards.
“I don’t rate his chances of being charge beyond the end of this season I have to be honest.
“I think he’ll get a very nice pay-off – probably a year’s money, it won’t be until the end of 2021.
“Great for him, delighted for him, but I wouldn’t view it as long-term employment.”
Discussing his permanent appointment, Solari declared his intention simply to enjoy the role despite the major pressures the Real job and its scrutiny brings.
He said: “I’m going to go into things positively and do everything I can. It’s a great opportunity.
“In life in general and in this profession we are all just here passing through.
“Everything goes very quickly, the important thing is the day to day.”
Real Madrid will hope to maintain their winning streak when they take on Eibar after the international break (November 24, 12pm UK time).
