Kai Havertz would suit Bayern Munich as a potential signing, according to Joshua Kimmich.

Havertz made his Germany debut in a friendly against Russia on Thursday, scoring Serge Gnabry's goal in a 3-0 win for Joachim Low's team.

The Bayer Leverkusen midfielder has been linked to a move to Bayern, which is expected to cool off, as Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery near retirement.

And Bayern defender Kimmich believes that Havertz, 19, would be a major asset for the Bundesliga champions.

"I can not buy it, but Kai Havertz is a player who suits us best," Kimmich told reporters.

The performance of Havertz also attracted the attention of the German coach Low.

"He impressed me," Low said. "He is very safe on the ball and has a good position for the future.

"When he picks up the ball, he always tries to move it forward, you can see him also at the training."

The Germans are back in the League of Nations on Monday when they host the Netherlands in Gelsenkirchen.

They will be relegated unless they are victorious but will return to Ligue B regardless of whether Ronald Koeman's men beat France's world champions on Friday.

Havertz, a product of Leverkusen's youth system, has impressed Heiko Herrlich's team this season, scoring six goals in all competitions up to now.

Aged 19, he has also scored four assists in the Bundesliga and Europa League so far.

Bayern has a number of talented young German stars, including Kimmich, Gnabry, Leon Goretzka and Niklas Sule.
