SHAH ALAM: Unofficial results of the PKR elections in Selangor today show Rafizi Ramli losing to his rival Mohamed Azmin Ali in the battle for the number two post, with majority of party members in five divisions in the state choosing Azmin to remain as the PKR deputy president.

In Pandan, despite Rafizi winning against three other candidates for the division chief post, majority of members there voted for Azmin in the contest for the deputy president’s post. Azmin reportedly got 715 votes while Rafizi got 508 in Pandan.

Four other Selangor divisions which voted today – Shah Alam, Hulu Langat, Ampang, and Tanjung Karang – also chose Azmin over Rafizi. Voting in another division, Kuala Selangor, was postponed following a technical glitch.

An unofficial final tally puts Azmin ahead of Rafizi, who got about half of Azmin’s total votes.

Earlier today, it was reported that Azmin also won in Kedah, with 3,754 votes against Rafizi’s 3,111 votes, according to unofficial results gathered from all 15 divisions in the state which voted over a two-day period beginning Friday.

Rafizi has allied himself to party stalwart Anwar Ibrahim, saying he was continuing the party’s battlecry of reforms or “reformasi”.

Azmin meanwhile is seen as a favourite in Selangor, having led the state government before he took the role of the economic affairs minister after Pakatan Harapan’s victory in the May polls.
