PETALING JAYA: Rafizi Ramli today told a PKR election official arrested recently over allegations of cheating in party polls was a staunch supporter of his rival Mohamed Azmin Ali, with whom he has been locked in an intense battle for the deputy president's post.

Rafizi said in the wake of the PKR election committee that it would not hold fresh elections for the Julau division in Sarawak. The polls in the division were marred by allegations of tampering of the devices used for e-voting process.

He said the man, who headed the election committee's IT team, was trying to delete the "Prey" app from several tablets in Julau.

"There is a video showing how to move the app before being apprehended. There is also video evidence which shows his phone containing the app.

"All this evidence has been handed over to the police for investigations," Rafizi said.

He accused the writer of negligence in allowing the "Prey" app to be installed on the tablets, and questioned its stand that the incident did not affect the integrity of the election data.

"This statement contradicts 100% the earlier statement by the JPP," said Rafizi, referring to the election committee.

He said the JPP failed to explain issues of PKU membership in Julau, despite the facts being agreed upon by the party's top leaders.

He said Azmin was responsible for bringing Julau MP Larry Sng into the party.

He said the membership committee, Xavier Jayakumar, checked and approved all of them, and that the JPP had checked and approved one-third of these.

"This is why I feel the JPP's decision today against fresh polls for Julau is unfair to me and other party members.

"The JPP can not wash their hands of this problem and resolve the issue immediately."
