It's been over 24 hours since archaeologists at the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities opened a mysterious 30-tonne black sarcophagus, and no curse has ever been inflicted on the planet despite the tabloid warnings.
The sarcophagus was found for the first time in July by construction workers in a residential area of Alexandria, a city on the Mediterranean coast of Egypt. This is the largest sarcophagus ever found in the city.
Some observers thought that it might contain the corpse of Alexander the Great because the sarcophagus dates back to the early Ptolemaic period (around 323 BC), which began after his death.
What archaeologists found inside the sarcophagus was appalling – but it was not the overwhelming discovery that some hoped for.
The three skeletons found in the sarcophagus were probably soldiers, according to the Egyptian Antiquities Ministry, and a skull showed signs of fractures caused by a sharp instrument.
