After unveiling the new 8 Series model earlier in the year, BMW has now lifted the lid on a convertible version of its luxury sedan, on sale from March 2019. The BMW 8 Series Convertible was developed BMW M8 and the BMW M8 GTE endurance rider.

It has a lower center of gravity and even weight distribution, as well as a lightweight construction using aluminum, magnesium and carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). A driving mode selector can be used to switch from a comfortable driving style to a sportier driving mode.

The car features in particular a front apron with extra-large air intakes, a distinctive side skirt and rear apron design, as well as multi-function seats and air conditioning. The options include a Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround audio system, a heat / comfort package, active seat ventilation and laser beam headlights with a high range beam range of 600 meters.

BMW has equipped the convertible with a head-up display system, its latest-generation voice control system and a smart personal assistant, who can act as a first-person copilot and vehicle expert.
Power transfer is provided by the eight-speed Sport Steptronic gearbox and the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive. The four-seater convertible features a fully power-operated soft top roof, opening and closing at the push of a button and can go up to 50 km / h.

The 8 Series convertible will be available in two versions: BMW M850i xDrive Convertible (gasoline, 530 hp) and 840d xDrive Convertible (diesel, 320 hp).
