Cheap travel to Maldives

BANGKOK, July 13, 2018: The Cambodian start-up, Lanmei Airlines, will launch a new road, July 19, linking Siem Reap in Cambodia with the Maldives, a popular upscale destination in the Indian Ocean .

This would allow travelers to immerse themselves in the world heritage experience of Angkor Wat and then fly to the Maldives for a sunbath.

Up to now, the company has not published details about the new service, nor in the releases or on its website booking engine.

Mums the word from the airline, but hourly information from Airlineroute identifies the intention to fly three times a week using an Airbus A319.

Lanmei Airlines could be eyeing the honeymoon segment in China. There may be a market for Chinese honeymooners combining a trip that highlights Angkor Wat and the sun-drenched beaches of the Maldives with a luxury stay in an overwater villa.

Or perhaps, the luxurious inhabitants of the Maldives Europe on charter flights, might be tempted to take a trip to Cambodia to Angkor Wat between the long days of idleness reserved for the Maldives?

If there is a market, Lanmei Airlines will have no competition.

Siem Reap-Male, is being offered by AirAsia at USD515 and it will take 13 hours to reach the island holiday with a stop in Kuala Lumpur for a change of plane.

Flying via Bangkok is considerably more expensive. Bangkok Airways will take you from Siem Reap to Male for USD 1,019, round trip, but it's an 18 hour marathon trip.

Silk Air has the best option with a global flight time of seven hours and a stop to change the plane at Changi Airport. The fare goes to USD 732.

So forget Lanmei Airlines until it wakes up and issues a booking option and rates on its website for the trip to Siem Reap- Male. An agreement on villa accommodation in the Maldives is not going bad either seeing the destination is one of the most expensive in Asia.
