Bangladesh is doing well in terms of infrastructure development
The President of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has called for the signing of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Bangladesh and Malaysia, which will pave the way for more great investment opportunities for both countries.
DCCI President Abul Kasem Khan made the statement during a meeting with Malaysia's High Commissioner for Bangladesh, Nur Ashikin Binti Mohd Taib, at the DCCI office, said Tuesday a statement from press.
At the meeting, the High Commissioner said that Bangladesh has a promising future in terms of trade, trade and economic development, said a press release.
She said Bangladesh is doing well in terms of infrastructure development.
"While the country has undertaken some major infrastructure development projects, they need to be implemented quickly," said the High Commissioner.
Stating that Bangladesh has maintained its GDP growth over the last decade, she added that Bangladesh could benefit from investments in the ASEAN market, one of the world's largest potential markets. .
"DCCI has always advocated for the inclusion of Bangladesh in ASEAN as a member country," said Kasem, adding that with the help of the expertise and the from Malaysia, DCCI would like to work as a halal certification body.
"Bangladesh being a market of 160 million people, most of whom are Muslim, halal certification could be a promising area to explore," he added.
He also invited Malaysian investors to invest in Bangladesh in the infrastructure, energy, tourism and leather sectors.
Riyadh Hossain, Vice President of DCCI, Waqar Ahmad Choudhury, Hossain A Sikder, Andaleeb Hasan and Md Al Amin were also present at the meeting.
