Governor's Island in New York offers miles of bike paths, campfires every night, art exhibits, hammocks and now glamping.
The new glamping option is part of Collective Retreats, a company that offers glamping options around the country in locations ranging from remote control to New York City. There are two types of accommodation with a third on the way: the summit tents and the travel tents, with the tent at the top being the largest and most luxurious option (1,500 threads) and a private bathroom).
According to Collective Retreat, there will soon be Outlook Shelters, which are "full service suites with a beautifully designed bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. These repositioned shipping containers fold out to provide a 180 degree glass chamber with an optimal view of the harbor from your bed.
Prices vary, but rates can exceed $ 700 per night, according to the Associated Press.
There is a variety of dining options for those who do not want to give up the peace and quiet for the bustle of Manhattan, just a short ferry ride away. For dinner, there is the Three Peaks Restaurant for a traditional dinner. There are also a number of food vendors nearby.
