Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri today launched Smart Cities Scholarships and Internships Programs. will offer young people various experiences. aspects of urban planning and governance. The minister said that the price of digital payment of smart cities, announced today, aims to promote "digital India" and to facilitate the lives of Indian urbanites by encouraging digital payments and encouraging cities smart to adopt innovative digital payment initiatives. According to the ministry, under the scholarship programs, the ministry will recruit 30 young graduates, PhDs and PhDs in the following areas: urban planning, urban planning, engineering, information and technology, mobility urban, finance, social sector and environmental issues

The commitment period is from one year to three years. The selected candidates will provide the necessary support to the office of the director of mission, Smart Cities within the ministry or CEOs of some smart cities in terms of analysis, research, documentation, independent evaluation, between other. The Ministry stated that the Smart Cities Internship (ISCI) program will engage students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees as trainees to assist in the implementation of projects in various states. The internship will be unpaid for a period of 6 to 12 weeks. Puri said the candidates will receive an experience certificate at the end of the program's success.

Asked if the country will get the first smart city before the Lok Sabha 2019 elections, Puri said that it is a long-term project and do not rely on the election. Giving details of the 2018 Smart Cities Digital Payments Awards, the minister said his goal was to guide, motivate, recognize and reward smart cities to promote digital payments and drive innovative payment initiatives in their respective cities.

The period would be 100 days from the launch of the awards. This would galvanize the digital payments landscape in smart cities. Prizes will be awarded in a two-step process. In a statement, the ministry indicated that the deadline for submission of responses for the first stage is September 15th. The dates for the final results will be announced later.

For evaluation purposes, smart cities will be divided into four different population categories – up to five lakh, 5-10 lakh, 1 million to 4 million and more than four million. The Local Plan (LAP) and the Plan d'Urbanisme (TPS) will be implemented in 25 selected cities on a pilot basis. The plan will allow selected cities to formulate local plans and town planning (GST) plans for which 100% central assistance would be available, the ministry said.
