JOHOR BAHRU: About 40 MPs from Umno could leave the party and join the PPBM, said PPBM Supreme Council member A. Kadir Jasin.

He added that MPs had met with senior leaders of the PPBM, including President Dr. Mahathir Mohamad and President Muhyiddin Yassin, individually or in groups.

"They indicated that they were open to the idea of ​​leaving Umno and joining PPBM, but the problem is that they have to determine what will happen because some of them have problems or are exposed to investigations, "he told reporters after the opening of Tebrau PPBM division meeting here today.

Kadir said that the question of who would inherit the assets of Umno also occupied the minds of the deputies, as the party was not declared bankrupt.

Asked that MPs are trying to escape investigations, Mr Kadir said there was no guarantee that they would be targeted. no investigation after joining the PPBM.

Meanwhile, Muhyiddin confirmed that several Umno MPs had met him, but declined to say how many.

Last night, the former Minister of International Trade and Industry, Mustapa Mohamed, joined PPBM, more than a month after his departure from Umno.
