KUANTAN: The water quality of Sungai Balok, located near the Lynas Advanced Materials Plant (LAMP) in Gebeng, shows an improvement in quality over the last six years of operation of the plant.
Pahang's environment department director, Rosli Zul, said the monitoring consisted of obtaining samples from two monitoring stations in the river.
"The source river water samples belonged to class 4, but the samples that passed through the industrial zone reached class 3.
"This is because the rejected water is treated before it is discharged, thus helping to improve the water quality of Sungai Balok," he said.
Rosli spoke at the public hearing today of the Executive Committee of the Assessment of Operations Lynas Advanced Materials Factory (LAMP).
He added that DOE's inspection and Lynas study revealed that the rare earth plant met all the stipulated conditions and positively impacted the environment.
Dr. Nur Aiza Zakaria, Public Health Specialist at the Ministry of Health (KKM), said that no upward trend has been observed for cancer, inflammation of the eyes and the eyes. respiratory diseases among the inhabitants of Kuantan.

Nur Aiza added that KKM had also been commissioned to carry out a special study on the cancer cancer treatment plant, but that this study was too expensive.
In the meantime, Hazlina Yon, director of the Chemicals Management Division of the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), told the audience that Lynas had complied with all of them. the necessary regulations.
