Mangaluru, July 25: Dr. Santosh Soans, eminent pediatrician of the city, was selected as one of the recipients of the prestigious Outstanding Asian Pediatrician Award 2018. The prize is awarded by the Asia Pacific Pediatric Association in recognition of the outstanding contribution of recipients in the field of pediatrics.
With India, the Asia Pacific Pediatric Association includes 26 countries such as Australia, Japan, China, New Zealand and Hong Kong. Kong, Singapore and Malaysia.
Dr. Santosh Soans is only the third Indian to receive this award. He will receive this honor at the awards ceremony on August 28th at Peninsula Island, Nusa Dua-Bali, Indonesia.
The award ceremony coincides with the 16th Asia Pacific Pediatric Congress 2018, the 9th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Indonesian Pediatric Society, and the 6th Asia Pacific Congress of Pediatric Nursing, to be held from 23 to 29 August 2018 at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center, Nusa Dua-Bali, Indonesia
A pioneer in pediatric intensive care in this region, Dr. Santosh Soans is an experienced and practicing academic pediatrician. He is a highly sought after speaker for national and international medical conferences. He is the author of two books, has contributed chapters to several medical textbooks and has published articles in various medical journals.
Dr. Santosh Soans is currently the National President of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP). He has been active in the IPA for more than three decades and was National Vice President (2010), National Chair of the ICU Chapter (2013) and President of Karnataka (2015).
A native of Kundapur, D. Santosh Soans is a former student of Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore and Manipal. He is currently stationed at the AJ Institute of Medical Sciences, in Mangalore as a Professor and Head of the Department of Pediatrics, as well as Chief of the NICU / USIP. He was also a professor at Father Muller's Medical College.
