Microsoft announced a new version of Skype for desktop computers. Version 8.0 of the video chat and email program looks a lot like the previous version but offers many new features.

The update allows you to make video calls in HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) if you have a webcam this resolution, as well as maintain calls and share your screen with up to 24 others users at the same time.

You can now share up to 300 MB of photos, videos, and other files at once by dragging them into the chat window.

The latest version will allow you to directly mention someone in a newsgroup by putting the @ symbol in front of its name, as in WhatsApp. In addition, a new chat gallery makes it easy to find shared files, links, and photos in conversations.

Skype 8.0 will replace all previous versions, so users will need to upgrade it by September 1 of this year. to continue using the program.

Microsoft said that more features will be deployed in the coming months, including read receipts, private encrypted end-to-end conversations and the ability to record calls.
