KUALA LUMPUR: Former deputy prime minister Musa Hitam today disputed the contents of a viral video where he was seen making undesirable comments about Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

He said the 20-second video clip has been edited to fit the purposes of those who had circulated it on social media.

“The contents are a mix of clippings and adding sentences to conform to a certain objective.

“It makes it look like I have directed abusive words at Dr Mahathir,” he said in a statement.

Musa explained that the video was based on a discussion that took place about four years ago when the chairman of the event asked him to comment on his resignation as the deputy prime minister.

Musa was the deputy prime minister from 1981 to 1986 in the Mahathir administration.

He said that on closer examination, it was clear that the words “kotor” (dirty), “dosa besar” (highly sinful) and such were not directed at Mahathir but at a political activist who suggested that he (Musa) be removed as the deputy prime minister.
