Ford and Sime Darby Auto Connection (SDAC) have recently launched the new Ford Ranger – an even more powerful pickup with a renewed range combining advanced technology, convenient features and safety.

The new "Constructed Ford Tough" Ranger relies on perfectly complementary off-road capabilities and references and enables a wide range of customers' lifestyles and work.

The new range of Ranger in Malaysia includes nine different variants, including XL, XLT, new XLT +, Wildtrak and the highly anticipated Ranger Raptor.

The last of these vehicles will be officially launched at the 2018 Kuala Lumpur International Auto Show in November.

State-of-the-art powertrains for proven performance and state-of-the-art technology

The new Ford Ranger offers a choice of three diesel powertrains to offer greater versatility and meet consumer demands for a wider variety of requirements. These include the new 2.0L single-turbo and 2.0L-twin-turbo engines and the proven Ranger Duratorq 2.2L engine.

Ford's new generation of diesel engines uses advanced materials and sophisticated construction.

Compact, lightweight, powerful and efficient, they are characterized by direct fuel injection with common rail, an integrated intake manifold and a "Belt-in-oil" primary drive.

New-generation 2.0L bi-turbo diesel engine, available exclusively on the Wildtrak 4 × 4, is paired with an advanced 10-speed automatic transmission for superior torque, improved flexibility, and quieter, longer drive comfortable.

The 2.0-liter twin-turbo takes advantage of sequential turbocharging to deliver the ultimate responsiveness, maneuverability and efficiency.

A pair of turbochargers are used for maximum performance and efficiency. A variable geometry turbocharger is used to provide better throttle response and eliminate delays by going up quickly at low speeds.

The second unit is a fixed geometry turbocharger with high flow capacity to provide maximum power and performance.

With 500 Nm from 1750 rpm, the Bi-Turbo engine offers greater torque dispersion. The 10-speed locking ratios reduce power gaps and accelerations, making it much easier to ride hard and slippery.

The optional Wildtrak model with the new engine maintains the Ranger's payload and towing capacity of 3,500 kg.

The 2.0L twin-turbo engine, available on the Wildtrak 4 × 2 and new Ranger XLT + variants, is also paired with Ford's advanced 10-speed automatic transmission to deliver 180 horsepower and impressive torque 420 Nm.

The XL and XLT versions feature Ranger's proven 2.2-liter turbodiesel engine, which delivers 160 horsepower / 385 Nm and comes with a six-speed automatic and manual transmission.

Stronger, smarter

Ford's Pre-Collision Assistance feature, which utilizes Vehicle and Pedestrian Autonomous Autonomous Emergency (AEB) braking, is available in the new Ranger.

The system is designed to detect pedestrians as well as vehicles in order to completely stop the ranger in order to mitigate the risks of rear-end collisions and pedestrian collisions. The system operates at speeds above 3.6 km / h.

The first and only Lane Departure Warning and Class Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control and Forward Collision Alert will be transferred to the new Ranger.

The Ford Semi-Automatic Semi-Automatic Parking Lot (SAPP) is available on the Wildtrak 4 × 4. The driver only needs to apply gear changes and brakes, and the system will automatically guide the Ranger into the parking space .

Loading is easier than ever on the Wildtrak and XLT + models with the introduction of the first and only tail lift in the class, Easy Lift.

With a new internal mechanism, the Ranger tailgate is now lighter to lift, with a 70% reduction in the initial force required to lift it in closing.

Not only does this system require less lifting effort, but it is also easier to lower.

The Ranger has added lightweight and agile electric power steering to the entry-level XL variant, making it the first in the segment to offer this standard feature on all models. It offers even more opportunities for these high-performance trucks that meet the daily demands of construction sites and farm fields across the country.

The new face of the ranger

The rugged appearance of the new Ranger is characterized by styling changes that maintain the off-road position and visual appeal of the current model.

Driven by a new, cleaner grille with distinctive "nostrils", the lower bumper, sharper cut, now offers a wider grip for a more balanced look.

The Ranger Wildtrak and XLT + are equipped with LED daytime running lights and HID headlights for better visibility. The Wildtrak variants are also equipped with LED front fog lights.

There is also a clearer distinction between models visually, with bumper treatments and colors reflecting the uniqueness of each model – whether it's a worker Ranger XL or a versatile Wildtrak.

The chrome work on the Ranger XLT and the Monument fittings on the Ranger Wildtrak reflect the unique position of each model in the range.

Wildtrak exclusively offers the new color "Saber", a rich orange with blonde accents that contrasts sharply with the dark gray grille.

The Wildtrak's 18-inch sport and alloy wheels make it stand out from the crowd.

Control center

The Ranger is now equipped with a keyless entry system and a push-button start on XLT + and Wildtrak.

Its interior accommodates many improvements to help with the work week, long weekend road trip and off-road adventure.

With long-lasting, durable surface finishes, the spacious Ranger now sports a black-themed interior. Contrasting details, including contrasting chrome and silver stitching, give the interior a luxurious feel.

SYNC® 3 on the Ranger XLT + and Wildtrak is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and includes Bluetooth and an 8.0-inch color touch screen.

The Wildtrak is also equipped with an integrated satellite navigation system when the Ranger is beyond the mobile coverage areas.

Comfort on the road, off-road conquered

The suspension of the new Ranger had been improved to allow better control of the bearing, to improve the feeling of driving under full load and towing.

The new packaging also allows geometry changes for improved ride, reduced roll as well as increased steering precision.

Changes to the suspension have no impact on Ranger's towing and payload capabilities.

The following variants of the new Ranger are available at the following prices:

• Wildtrak: two variants from € 13,888.00
• XLT +: a variant from RMR12888.00
