R17 Pro was one of the most talked about in the last few months. Oppo launched the two R series phones lately. One is the Oppo R17, while the top-end model is the Pro version or the Oppo R17 Pro. Today, Oppo has added a new phone to the R17 series. It is the R17 Neo. Oppo has reportedly launched the R17 Neo in Japan on the Japanese website called UQCommunications. It is worth noting that the Oppo's official website does not have the R17 Neo phone listed anywhere on its website. Going in line with the latest trend, the Oppo R17 Neo sports a waterdrop notched display.

As far as the design is concerned, the Oppo looks more like the Oppo F9 series of phones and less like the R17 or the R17 Pro. But, the phone does borrow some of the features of the R17 phones like the in-display fingerprint sensor technology. The fingerprint sensor embedded inside the phone is the new trend in the smartphone market. It all started with Vivo NEX, and now some of the major phone makers like OnePlus are following it. Samsung is also expected to bring them under the S10 lineup of phones.

Going by the specs, the Oppo R17 Neo looks like a pretty decent phone overall. The smartphone comes with a size similar to the OnePlus 6T. The R17 Neo Sports has massive 6.4-inch HD + AMOLED display with resolution of 1080×2340 pixels. The smartphone is powered by Snapdragon 660 processor clocked at 1.95GHz. As of now, there is no word if the phone will come to India, but it will take into consideration the specs if it does, the phone will stand and compete against Vivo's V11 Pro.

The Oppo R17 Neo comes in only one variant with 4GB RAM and 128GB of expandable storage up to 256GB via microSD card. The smartphone comes with several connectivity options like VoLTE 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac, and Bluetooth 5.0. As expected, the Oppo R17 Neo runs Android 8.1 Oreo with ColorOS 5.2 on top. There's no information on Android OS – Android 9 Pie – or not.

On the camera front, the Oppo R17 Neo includes two cameras on the rear panel. It comes with a primary camera of 16-megapixel and a secondary sensor of 2-megapixel on the back. On the front, the R17 Neo comes with a 25-megapixel selfie camera. The smartphone comes with a slightly smaller battery than the OnePlus 6T. It packs at 3,600mAh battery.
