GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Front Party (PFP) wants the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate the allegation on the abuse of the construction of the road in Bukit Kukus, Paya Terubong, near here where a landslide killed nine people last Friday.

Its president Patrick Ooi said it should be carried out on the Penang State Government, particularly on the Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and Penang City Council mayor Yew Tung Seang.

"The PFP urges the MACC to carry out an investigation to prevent a recurrence of such an incident that we have not complied with the standard operating procedure (SOP) and had abused their power.

"We also feel that there are many other issues that are important to us in this regard.

"What we are afraid of is a landslide that was stated by an expert yesterday," he said at the MACC headquarters, here.

He said that the party also regretted the decision taken by the Penang State Government that wanted to continue with the project.

Patrick said the party also urged the Penang State Government to stop the project immediately because of the danger posed to the workers at the site.

"They had cut the slope and the slope of the soil had become steep and the soil factor was also residents in the area, "he said.
