Politicians call for Najib to be treated fairly – Nation

PETALING JAYA: Leading politicians and social activists have called for Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to be treated fairly by the authorities.

On Twitter, PKR Vice President Rafizi Ramli said that although he is among the "fiercest critics" of Najib, he prayed that the former prime minister receive kindness and be treated with dignity.

"I pray that justice prevails at the end.I was what I fought for #reformasi," he tweeted yesterday

After Rafizi's tweet, the old Minister of Youth and Sports Khairy Jamaluddin retweeted the tweet, but he made no political comment on the issue.

DAP counselor Lim Kit Siang asked on his tweet: "Najib stopped 54 days after GE14?" While his political secretary Syahredzan Johan said that if Najib was to spend the night in custody, he asked that the lock-up rules be respected to.

"The rule of law must be respected, regardless of how we despise the arrested person," said Syahredzan.

Meanwhile, social activist Marina Mahathir shared press articles about Najib's arrest on his Facebook account.

"It's happening," she says.

Political activist Fahmi Raze said, "The time is up @Najib Razak".
