Renault Megane R.S. Trophy revealed

The Renault Megane R.S. is already a kind of performance beast, but the French firm goes even further with this more targeted version – the Trophy.

So, what makes it special? Let's start with the numbers. The turbocharged 1.8-liter engine produces 296 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque – ranging from 276bhp and 390Nm that the standard car boasts. It can be paired with a six-speed manual or a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and the result of all that power is 0-60 mph in 5.5 seconds, with a top speed of 162 mph.

The Trophy also utilizes the Megane's Cup chassis option, which offers stiffer suspension and a Torsen limited slip differential and brings enhanced front brakes housed in 19-inch alloy wheels that reduce the unsprung weight of 8kg

on the list of options, which are cut in Alcantara and are 20mm lower than before.

There is little external visual indication that it is a trophy, apart from the scratches added to the separator before F1 inspiration. Although you can hear the difference, thanks to an improved exhaust system with a mechanical valve – allowing the car to calm down in a quiet or arrogant environment.

Fans of Renault's hot hatches know the nickname of the trophy, which has been applied to the most powerful version of every Renaultsport-nicked Megane since the first was introduced in 2004.

New Renault Megane RS Trophy is expected to go on sale in the fall, with customer shipments beginning in the last quarter of the year. The price has not been confirmed yet, but expect to know more about it soon.
