Foldable smartphone concepts have always fascinated the general public as well as the average geek but the idea never really took off. Many smartphone manufacturers gave it a go but didn’t receive positive results. The news that Samsung has been working on a foldable smartphone has been in circulation for quite a while now but we haven’t heard anything from Samsung.
Lucky for us Ice Universe came through with a tweet answering all the questions asked by enthusiasts. He stated that Samsung is in active development of the project and is expected to showcase it next year. This would allow them to further perfect their design and most importantly the software experience. The software is to be a different skin of Android developed by Samsung partnered with Google. The durability is going to be the biggest concern and I believe that Samsung is very capable and has all the resources required to pull something like this.
Sure, they may not be the very first to implement bendable display technology into a smartphone but if anyone is to perfect the art its Samsung. The device is to come with a 7nm processor by Qualcomm or Samsung which means that 5G technology will be enabled by default in the smartphone.

What’s interesting is how Samsung decides to approach this concept physically. The durability will be the biggest hurdle and with it comes innovation. If they manage to induce some creative technology this phone may help Samsung get back on track with its sales. Since Chinese brands are gaining more ground in the international space this may be Samsung’s ticket back into the mainstream department. We look forward to more news and leaks specifically on this concept and design.
