Before the Kia Soul and Jeep Renegade were so popular with buyers, if Suzuki had revealed a new Jimny as square and square as its new 2019 model, its style somehow little retro could have aroused criticism.

The first official images of the new Jimny appeared last month, and now the Japanese manufacturer has released a large detailed gallery of new images and details on the powertrain and safety technology.

The 2019 Suzuki Jimny will be the fourth generation of the popular, compact, but rugged off-roader, and the latest version of a model that is with us now for twenty or so years. Suzuki certainly has not tried to reinvent the wheel here by making the Jimny all sleek and modern with one of those sloping cut-style roof lines more and more popular. Instead, it has a distinctly retro, boxy look with a clamshell hood, and the new model will remain one of the few vehicles of this type to still have the spare wheel mounted on the rear door.

For the moment, just a single engine has been confirmed for the 2019 Jimny, which may not be surprising, it's Suzuki's popular three-cylinder Booster Jet. Instead, it will be powered by an all-new, 1.5-liter, four-cylinder gasoline unit.

This new engine will be more powerful than the current 1.3-liter engine because it will develop power 101 horses and 130 Newton meters of torque. In addition to being more powerful, the new unit is also smaller and lighter than the one it replaces, which bodes well for the performance of this next-generation model.

With the five-speed manual transmission being 90 mph with a fuel economy rating claimed of 41.5 miles per gallon. If the four-speed automatic option is preferred, the maximum speed drops a little to 87 miles per hour, and fuel economy takes a similar shot at 37.6 miles per gallon.

Unlike most rivals in its class, the Jimny is a suitable all-terrain vehicle built on a scale-scale platform with Allgrip Pro part-time four-wheel drive with low reach in the part of its standard equipment. But in addition to being able to ride off-road, the new Jimny will also improve its driving ways with better ride quality thanks to the rigidity of the scale frame and a new steering component that minimizes shaking and vibration. .
