  The Culling Day 1 now available

After a major miss with The Culling 2 in which the player base fell to one player for extended periods, Xaviant developers returned to the roots of the franchise. They canceled the development of the franchise's second game and removed it from store shelves. They also recently published The Culling in its version of Day 1 with a trailer.

The Culling and Xaviant survive … for the moment

This iteration of The Culling misses Polish; it's true. Again, this is the day 1 edition, which means that no major or patch fix has yet been implemented. However, it helps Xaviant understand how they could improve the original game. After all, their decision to turn to other big names like the survival or the royal battle failed. This decision led the base of players to completely abandon the sequel. Xaviant's admission of their faults has been well received, and it seems that game owners are getting their rewards. The iteration of Day 1 can be played and tested in their Day 1 Reference Servers.

Xaviant has laid out his plans for the game going from the front. They intend to continue rebuilding the trust that their base of players once had in them. They will continue to work on The Culling for its main or current iteration. Once ready, it will be released as a free game. That's pretty much what longtime and dedicated fans want – see the game return to its visceral and brutal melee combat combined with survival mechanisms in the royal battle genre.

It will take time to fix everything. The Culling does not really put the world on fire now on Steam cards, but again, this might not include players who are currently in the reference servers. Still, the base of players is eager to see improvements. This is the maximum that everyone can hope for.
