PETALING JAYA: In a bend, former Attorney General Mohamed Apandi Ali said that he rejected Umno's offer to become a member of the Supreme Council of the party .

He said that the appointment would be tied to his actions when he was a judge as well as the Attorney General.

"After careful consideration, I think it does not suit me to accept my nomination as a member of the Umno Supreme Council," he said

. Earlier today, Apandi, among the eleven appointed members of the Umno Higher Council, said that he was entitled to be an active member of Umno again following his withdrawal as AG last month.

Apandi, former Federal Court Judge member from 1982 to 1991. He was also the youth leader for the Pengkalan Chepa Umno division in Kelantan.

Apandi, who was named AG at the top of the 1MDB controversy in 2015, was heavily criticized for refusing to file a complaint. against the prime minister of the time, Najib Razak.
