The Kuala Lumpur Major Playoffs Day 4: Odds, Analysis, Predictions

The Kuala Lumpur Major Playoffs Day 4 will be the last day of the Dota 2 Major that will be played behind closed doors as the action heads over to the Axiata Arena where the Top 6 teams will be in front of an audience that’s just dying to see some games played live.

Tomorrow, TNC Predator will look to continue their playoff run by taking on Vici Gaming. Other than a spot in the Top 6, this is a drama-filled match up. Lest we forget, the Chinese Dota 2 community is still up in arms about Carlo ‘Kuku’ Palad’s recent use of an inappropriate Chinese slur in a public match. On the other hand, Evil Geniuses will try to prove doubters wrong as they face off against a Fnatic squad that’s arguably just as talented and skilled as they are.

With two must-watch matches scheduled for the Kuala Lumpur Major Playoffs Day 4, we will not delay any further and get right on to our picks of the day.

Kuala Lumpur Major Playoffs Day 4 Predictions

TNC Predator vs ViCi Gaming

Kuala Lumpur Major Playoffs Day 4

Having gone from promising rookie to established talent in just a few short years, Paparazi is likely looking forward to lifting trophies more this season instead of finishing in second place. (ViCi Gaming)

Match Schedule: November 14, 2018 — 1000H GMT+8

TNC Predator couldn’t have picked a better time to come alive. After posting a 0-2 record during the group stage, TNC Predator have, so far, not dropped a single map. They’ve bested paiN Gaming, as well as Alliance, the latter of which was expected to make short work of the All-Filipino squad. But instead, Alliance failed to execute and let the game get way too late, allowing TNC Predator to even the playing field and win the game.

Now, they’re up against Vici Gaming, who are obviously the superior squad of the two. However, we’ve seen bigger underdogs pull off more surprising wins. It’s not like TNC Predator are slouches either. It wasn’t so long ago that they earned the nickname “Chinese Slayers”, as their aggression often caught Chinese teams off their guard.

Unfortunately, Vici Gaming are not your typical Chinese team.

Although they remain methodical and their play revolves around teamwork over individual prowess, make no mistake, this team has some of the best young talent China has to offer. Namely, in the form of their superstar core duo, Zeng ‘Ori‘ Jiaoyang and Zhang ‘paparazi‘ Chengjun.

While we should see a relatively close matchup between these two teams, we expect Vici Gaming to walk away with a win.

Betting: Correct Score 1:2 (IN MAPS) in favour of Vici Gaming at 3.26 odds. (GGbet)

Evil Geniuses vs Fnatic

Kuala Lumpur Major Playoffs Day 4

The right mix of Evil Geniuses’ current woes and their own individual talent should give Fnatic a good chance of taking the series against the boys in blue tomorrow. (Fnatic)

Match Schedule: November 14, 2018 — 1300H GMT+8

Both teams had a much harder time beating their obviously inferior opponents in the previous round. This suggests either one of two things: that Evil Geniuses or Fnatic are not as good as most people think they are, or that J.Storm and Forward Gaming are far better than most people give them credit for.

We’re leaning more towards the latter, especially in the case of J.Storm. That team has some serious potential.

Moving on, however, in a battle between these two talent-laden squads, the point of interest will be the middle lane. We all know how Sumail Syed ‘SumaiL‘ Hassan likes a challenge, and as the first 10K MMR player ever, there couldn’t be a better opponent for him than Abed Azel ‘Abed‘ Yusop.

Historically, SumaiL has gotten the better of Abed since the Meepo specialist’s days with Digital Chaos. But, unlike Evil Geniuses, the Southeast Asian squad’s playstyle doesn’t always revolve around Abed. They “might” enable him some days, but they have other players who are just as capable of taking over and making space for themselves. Although Fnatic obviously have not been good as advertised, something tells me that the same issues that plagued Evil Geniuses against Ninjas in Pyjamas, and to some extent, Forward Gaming, will pop up tomorrow in their match against Fnatic.

Betting: Fnatic to win at 3.44 odds. (GGbet)
