The Melbourne rebels were mired in another off-field controversy with two players hanging indefinitely for an alleged assault outside a nightclub.
Pone Fa 'Amausili and Hunter Paisami were demobilized pending the outcome of a police investigation into the alleged incident in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A Facebook post from a woman claiming to be the sister of the victim accused the pair of delivering a "king's blow" to his brother from behind, and letting him bleed
The rebels confirmed that Fa & Amausili and Paisami had been removed from their posts and Rugby Australia had been made aware of the changing situation, but had made no comment.
Fa amausili made a statement to the police Paisami should do the same thing on Tuesday.
He comes just a week after a fight between rebel players Amanaki Mafi and Lopeti Timani, the latter who would have been left to fear for his life as he was attacked by the Japanese international and his brother at Dunedin.
Mafi and Timani were fined $ 15,000 each for violating the team's protocol by ignoring instructions from coach David Wessels not to drink.
Fa amausili and Paisami first seasons with the Super Rugby franchise. Prop Fa "Amausili, 21, has only played one game for the rebels, an 11-minute comeback on the bench, but is signed for the club until 2020. Center Paisami, 20, has not yet made an appearance at Super Rugby and is on an extended team contract.
