The Mexican international Miguel Layun signed a three-year contract with Villarreal for Porto, confirmed Wednesday by the Spanish club .
Layun was loaned for the second half of last season to Sevilla in La Liga, before starting three of Mexico's four World Cup matches.
The 30-year-old must arrive in Villarreal in the coming days and become the sixth Mexican player to play for the Yellow. Submarine, who finished fifth in the Liga and has qualified for the Europa League last season.

"[I’m] pleased with this new adventure in my career with Villarreal," said Layun in a video message. "I am grateful for the trust, hope to see you soon and hope we enjoy our time together."
A youth product Querétaro, Layun's career began in Veracruz and was followed by a stay in Italy with Atalanta, but after his return to Mexico with Club America, he struggled to impose himself at first, before excelling under Miguel Herrera and settling in Granada and finally in Watford.
The native of Veracruz prefers to play on the left, but he can play one of the rear positions, midfield, or even on the wing as he did for El Tri in Russia 2018.
