Vincent Goh, a former representative of Pelawan, dies – Nation

SIBU: Former Pelawan deputy Vincent Goh Chung Siong passed away peacefully around 2.30am on Friday, July 27 in the presence of his wife and several family members at his home in Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg.

Goh, 67, had not been healthy since the diagnosis of heart cancer in 2013.

The funeral will be held next Thursday (August 2).

Two-term MP first contested 1996 Pelawan elections But he won the next two elections in 2001 and 2006, beating the same DAP candidate Ting Chek King.

He kept a very low profile and stayed away from the political scene after losing the 2011 DAP election to David Wong by a 6.391 majority.

Goh was also the former chairman of the Sibu Rural District Council from 1996 to 1999 before being appointed as vice chairman of Sibu City Council (SMC) from 1999 to 2003.

As Vice President of SMC, he was part of the Sibu Visionary Development Team led by Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh who was responsible for the transformation of the city in that she is today.

He was chief of youth of the Sarawak Unified People's Party (SUPP) from 1990 to 1996.

Goh leaves behind his wife and four children.
