Xavier Justo: What I said was about Thai police, not Malaysian police – Nation

PETALING JAYA: In an effort to explain a report alleging he said that the Malaysian police had asked him to say Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak was the “best Malaysian PM”, Swiss banker-turned-whistleblower Xavier Justo took to Facebook to address Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) director Comm Datuk Seri Amar Singh on the matter.

“I don’t remember giving an interview to this media. I want to explain that I’m quite sure that I never said these words. I said that (Briton) Paul Finnigan and the Thai Police gave me your questions in advance and that they wanted me to say that,” he said.

Justo is a key figure in the entire 1MDB saga and it is the information he shared with Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown which sparked off investigation into the fund in multiple countries worldwide.

He had spoken at the Anti-Corruption Summit 2018 on Tuesday (Oct 30).

“I haven’t check the words that I pronounced during the conference where I supposedly told that, but I’m quite convinced that what I said was about this Paul Finnigan and the Thai Police, not the Malaysian Police,” said Justo.

“If I’m wrong, please do accept my humble apologies, I’m a human being and English is my third language. Also I was speaking in front of 1000 with a high level of stress. If I’m correct and I didn’t say these words let’s say it’s a newspaper mistake,” he said.

Justo went on to stress that he respects Malaysia and its laws that he is in no way trying to interfere with them.

“I do respect the law and the police whose duty it is to apply it.

“Furthermore, during your 2015 visit in prison you treated me with a lot of respect and fairness regardless of me being a prisoner,” he said in his message to Amar.

Justo then signed off with his full name, with a line below it identifying himself as “a non liar human being”.
