KUALA LUMPUR: Doctor Ahmad Zahid Hamidi of Datuk Seri has been tried for 45 counts of money laundering for RM72mil, breach of criminal trust and acceptance of pots – de -vin for RM42mil.

The offenses allegedly occurred at Malayan Banking Bhd in Bangsar between 7 December 2016 and 15 March this year.

The charges under section 4 (1) (a) of the Anti-Money-Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Illicit Activities Act, 2001 are punishable by up to up to 15 years and a fine of not less than five times the amount involved. RM5mil, whichever is greater, by conviction.
