LAKE CITY, Florida – A Riviera Beach Police Department arrest report reveals new details in the shooting death of an 18-year-old Lake City woman.

The man charged with his death, Troy Hutto, 54, is now in Palm Beach County and faces multiple charges.

In a recently released affidavit, he was identified as Grace Duncan’s boyfriend.

According to the report, Hutto told police he pointed a gun at Duncan in the hotel room before his death.

Duncan’s father told police she left town with her boyfriend, Hutto, according to the report. Duncan’s father then called the police, asking them to do a welfare check after not hearing from him for 48 hours. He believed Hutto was giving Duncan medication to keep her sedated, according to the affidavit. Duncan’s father told police the last time he spoke to her she looked like she had no character.

The report shows Duncan’s father was able to track her location from his phone, showing she was at the hotel. Police found his body in a beachfront hotel room in Riviera Beach. Hutto was gone, but left his wallet, phone, and ID in the room.

The affidavit stated that Hutto was eventually found at a gas station in St. Augustine after an overdose in his car. He was taken to Baptist South in Jacksonville where he was arrested.

While in the hospital, detectives reported that Hutto said something like, “Oh my God. I think I hurt my Gracie, ”before he started to cry.

He told detectives that he pointed a gun at Gracie as she sat on the bathroom counter. The weapon then exploded and a bullet hit her, according to the report.

According to the affidavit, Hutto told detectives he left the room with the gun and his meds in a black Adidas bag that was found inside his car.

Hutto is one of the co-founders of the Salt Life brand but was not involved in the business in 2013.

Hutto is charged with manslaughter and possession or use of a weapon.
