CLEVELAND – An Ohio man faces charges after the authorities said he found him with a 14-year-old California girl who reportedly went missing after contacting him online.
The FBI announced that Jeremy L. Cruz, 39, of Elyria, had been charged with interstate pornography involving children.
Cruz was arrested on April 18 in a family home located in Sheffield Lake, about 42 km west of Cleveland. He was with the girl who had been missing in Santa Maria, California, three days earlier.
Police said that the girl was communicating online with a man identified by Cruz as a telephone correspondent. They found on Cruz's phone pictures of child pornography.
The girl has returned home to her family.
Cruz was in federal custody after a first court appearance Friday.
