SHERBROOKE, Que. (Gray News) – Police want to speak with a man they say assaulted a nurse who vaccinated his wife, CBC reported.

He had told the nurse that she needed his permission to have his wife vaccinated against COVID-19, according to Martin Carrier of the Sherbrooke police department.

Generally, adults do not need a family’s approval to be vaccinated.

The alleged attack occurred Monday at a Brunet pharmacy in Sherbrooke, about 90 miles east of Montreal.

The nurse was treated in a hospital for possible concussion and facial injuries. She is recovering at home.

Police describe the suspect as a man between 30 and 45 years old with average build. He is said to be around six feet tall with short black hair, black eyes and large eyebrows.

The company that owns the pharmacy has said the alleged assault is unacceptable.

“We obviously condemn this gesture, which we deem unacceptable for the pharmacy teams who have provided essential services since the start of the pandemic,” said the Jean Coutu Group Inc. in a press release.

COVID vaccinations at the pharmacy are suspended until further notice
