Man known as ‘QAnon Shaman’ asks Trump for forgiveness after storming Capitol

Jacob Anthony Chansley, who also calls himself “QAnon Shaman,” surrendered to authorities on Saturday after his trip to Washington, DC, at Trump’s call for the “Patriots” to take a stand against the election results.

His lawyer Albert Watkins is now making a plea for a pardon, saying Chansley was not involved in Wednesday’s violence and had surrendered peacefully.

“My client had heard President Trump’s oft-repeated words,” Watkins said, according to local CBS station KMOV4. “The words and invitation of a president are meant to mean something. In view of the peaceful and docile manner in which Mr Chansley behaved, it would be appropriate and honorable for the President to forgive Mr Chansley and other peaceful like-minded people who accepted the President’s invitation with intent honorable.

Chansley faces charges including knowingly entering or staying in a building or restricted land without legal permission, and violent entry and disorderly conduct on the Capitol grounds.

In the days following the riot, Chansley told NBC News he saw nothing wrong with his actions.

“The fact that we had a group of our traitors in the office squatting, putting on their gas masks and taking refuge in their underground bunker, I consider it a victory,” he said, referring to the legislators inside the building who had to take shelter.

Earlier this week, Chansley reportedly refused to eat food given to him while in detention because it was not organic.
