"Good evening nerd tribe!" Shouted Mr. Todd Gallowglas, the host of Silicon Valley Comic Con's costume cosplay competition on Saturday night.
The author explained that this particular event was "the climax" of his year; it's the native home convention of Northern California and, being smaller than San Diego's gigantic Comic-Con, its size is ideal.
"I want to talk about being a nerd these days," continued Gallowglas, as competitors prepared their costumes behind the scenes. "I was nerdy before nerdy was cool, before conquering the whole world … who comes here and it's great because we win?"

The procession that followed a few dozen of the best dressed nerds of the evening resulted in a handful of cosplay winners in several categories, including: public favorite, best newcomer, best group, best young, best companion (an experienced cosplayer ) and best show. .
A family of four, dressed in "My Little Jedi", came with a mix of four characters "My Little Pony" armed with wigwire wig lightsabers and won the award for best performance for a series of duels on stage. Despite fierce (and adorable) competition, Ivy Lovall was summoned by Rey as the best young player. The price of the public favorite was claimed by a duo dressed in "Super Trooper" collectible toys – still in their cards. And a Godzilla costume so impressed by Tokyo Comic Con representatives, they granted the cosplayer a three-year admission to the Japanese event.
Devlin Murdock, dressed like a troll paladin, is a suit elaborated and illuminated by electroluminescent diodes.
