The Red Devils goalkeeper ruled out Liverpool on his final outing, becoming the seventh man to reach a century in England's top flight

David de Gea became the seventh goalkeeper to score 100 Premier League matches for one club and the second in Manchester United after Peter Schmeichel.

The Spaniard had a difficult start at Old Trafford following the passage of Atletico Madrid in 2011.

Sir Alex Ferguson, however, gave him the time to settle in a new environment and realize his potential.

De Gea helped United clinch the last Premier League title in 2013, as an iconic coach about to retire.

The Red Devils have suffered a humble fall of grace since then under a succession of coaches.

Their # 1 however has been a pattern of consistency throughout a test episode.

De Gea flourished under David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer while others faltered.

He was rewarded with four Player of the Year Awards, which allowed him to be above Cristiano Ronaldo.

He did not have much to do in his last outing, but he was able to stop Liverpool from playing 0-0.

The stalemate on his soil brought De Gea to a remarkable landmark, with a century of blank sheet now acquired for the Red Devils in high flying English.

De Gea has now added his name to an illustrious list of those who have accomplished the same feat during their respective careers.

The legend of the United States, Schmeichel, is one of the most remarkable names in this list. The former Danish international contributed to the establishment of national domination during his stay in Manchester.

He kept 112 white sheets for the Red Devils, so this will be De Gea's next target.

Tim Howard, another former United goalkeeper, scored 116 goals with Everton.

Petr Cech leads the standings with 162 for Chelsea, while David Seaman has 137 with Arsenal.

Pepe Reina collected 134 white sheets during his days in Liverpool and Joe Hart boasted 109 of a productive stay in Manchester City.
