HERKIMER, NY — If you’re looking to get your hands on the Playstation 5, you’re not alone. It was nationally regarded as one of the most sought after Christmas gifts of the year.
Aaron Papalao waited 9:00 pm outside Herkimer Gamestop to try and get his hands on a Playstation 5. A few days before Black Friday, Aaron received an ad on his phone from Gamestop. The fine print ensures that each store will have at least two of the consoles in stock.
Stores weren’t preordering consoles on Black Friday, so it was first come, first served.
“A PlayStation is a much sought-after gift this holiday season. With the way everything is going with the pandemic, I thought maybe I would make Christmas a little more special for my son, and my brother and I in. will take a couple, ”Papalao said.
Papalao, missing all Thanksgiving with his family, brought a small mattress to the front of the store and camped out for the night. He was the first in line. He said about 40 more showed up later. Some wait until 6 p.m. Papalao said that when the manager arrived at the store on Black Friday, 5 minutes before opening, he placed a sign on the doors stating that the Playstation 5 was sold out.
Aaron, obviously frustrated, went to the manager for answers. Papalao said the manager told Aaron he didn’t have one. Papalao then called other Gamestops in the area in search of answers.
“I contacted the store in Rome, the manager was not available and spoke to an associate. He reassured me again that if Herkimer tells me they don’t have any, it is a lie, ”Papalao said.
NEWSChannel 2 also asked the Herkimer store manager about the Playstation 5. He told our reporters that he didn’t want to go into details, but that they had to be shipped.
Other stores are reporting that game system shipments may not be made to certain stores due to demand, although they are advertised this way.
Papalao has said he won’t give up and promises to get his hands on a Playstation 5.
