Kevin Acee from the San Diego Union Tribune reported Wednesday that the San Diego Padres had asked Delaware North, the reseller of the jerseys in the Petco Park team store, to remove the Manny Machado jerseys from the racks until the team's new third player be officially on board.
By Mark Feinsand from MLB.com, Machado signed a $ 300 million 10-year contract with the team.
Acee noted that Machado still has to take a physical exam Thursday for "the insurer protecting the 300-million-dollar Padres investment." The four-time winner of the All-Star and the two-time Gold Glove has already taken the physics of the team.
Per Acee, the team plans to hold a press conference on Friday morning to present its new star.
If you're an enterprising fan who hopes that an online salesman will sell the new Padres jersey in advance, it seems like you're out of luck this Wednesday night.
There are, however, Baltimore Orioles and Los Angeles Dodgers Machado discount jerseys.
