The next time the Yankees play, the game will count. The rain resisted and the Yankees dropped their Nationals exhibition final in Washington tonight. Troy Tulowitzki hit a home run and Greg Bird ran in a race with a 1-2 assisted by Juan Soto. Soto went all over and the ball landed behind him. Brett Gardner scored twice in the end. Many fast bats tonight. Everyone was ready to fly to New York.
Stephen Tarpley waited until the last spring outing to allow a race. He gave two circuits to Anthony Rendon. Zack Britton pulled out the two batters he faced and Adam Ottavino pulled out one of the goals in a 1-2-3 run. It is a video game. His business moves everywhere. Nestor Cortes has authorized a race in 3.1 work runs. Here is the summary of the box and the video clips, as well as the notes of the last day of the camp:
- Miguel Andujar made a jump in the ribs tonight, just under the armpit. He raised his arms to jump out of the way and the ball deviated from his elbow pad and into his ribs. Rather strange. Andujar obviously suffered but he stayed in the game. Aaron Boone said he was good after the match, so there you go. Another injury would have been just inflate.[[[[Kristie Ackert]
- Dellin Betances (shoulder) played wrestling today for the first time since it closed and everything went well. Luis Severino (shoulder) has extended his throw from 90 to 120 feet today. - Aaron Boone did not feel the need to talk to Tyler Wade after saying he was "blinded" by not being on the list. "Guys have the right to be pissed off … I'm frustrated and that's good. What am I going to look for is what is his answer? "Boone said.[[[[Coley Harvey, Pete Caldera]
- The Orioles have officially scratched Alex Cobb (groin) since the start of their opening day. It will be Masahiro Tanaka against Andrew Cashner on Thursday. The O's have not defined their rotation after Cashner. I must think that the Yankees will see Dylan Bundy at some point this weekend.[[[[Roch Kubatko]
The spring training is officially over. Thank goodness for that. The Yankees scored 17-10-4 with a single rain fall and a +39 points differential in their 32 exhibition games. Up next: opening day. The first pitch is scheduled for 13:05 Thursday, and I imagine that the presentations before the start of the match will begin around 12:30 ET. Tanaka against Cashner. Game 1 of 162. Let's do it.
