The trailer for Carey’s upcoming Apple TV + special, “Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special,” debuted on Friday and maybe that’s what we need to get into the holiday spirit.
Actress Tiffany Haddish narrates the special, which will be released on December 4.
“It was the night before Christmas and 2020 had been destroyed,” Haddish says in the trailer, “so Santa has decided that the season cannot be merry without the one and only Mariah Carey.”
Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson and Snoop Dogg are among the celebrities who are also making guest appearances on the show, which will feature many cheerful musical numbers in festive wintery backdrops.
The special builds on the smash hit of Carey’s 1994 holiday classic, “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” The song became a holiday standard and even topped the charts for the first time last year, 25 years after its release.
From party costumes to dream-like sets filled with sleds, nutcrackers, and snowmen, this special just might get us through the rest of 2020.
