When OshKosh B’gosh needed to pitch a younger version of Mariah Carey for a new ad campaign, the clothing company didn’t have to look far and chose the singer’s 10-year-old daughter, Monroe Cannon, to fill his famous shoes. And the end result is one that any parent would be proud of!

The campaign features videos of children respectively imagining what Carey and other forward-thinking thinkers, like Muhammad Ali and the Outkast group, would have done in their youth. Entitled “Today is Someday,” the inspiring back-to-school campaign marks Monroe’s modeling debut.

“Cannon emerges as his mother at the age of 10, paying homage to Carey’s childhood, songwriting and her profound impact and influence on generations of young dreamers,” OshKosh B’gosh said in a statement.

At one point during the clip, Monroe picks up a hairbrush and mimics the vocals like it’s a microphone, showing mom has taught her little one a thing or two about diva behavior!

“Someday it’s gonna be different,” Monroe says in the 30-second clip. “The melodies that live in my head, they will one day live at the top of the charts. The songs in my heart will touch millions of hearts: artist of the year, artist of the decade, artist of the millennium!”

“But the point is to inspire generations of little girls to reach their high grade,” she adds. “How’s that for a daydream? “

The proud mum shared the ad on her Instagram, writing: “Introducing … MONROE! PS Mum loves you so much !!!!!”

Carey, 51, shares Monroe with her ex-husband Nick Cannon, 40, who she was married to from 2008 to 2016. The couple are also parents to Moroccan, who is Monroe’s twin brother.

“As a little girl, I was determined to make my dreams come true,” Carey said in a statement about the new campaign featuring her daughter. “Now, as a mother, it brings me so much joy to see my children visualize and develop the dreams they hold in their own hearts. We campaigned because we love the message of empowering children. to dream boldly and forge their own path. “

Ahead of the publication of her memoir last year, Carey sat down with Oprah Winfrey to talk about her twins and the power of their love for her.

“They help me heal myself every day, whenever we have a moment that feels real, genuine and genuine, and they are the ones who love me unconditionally,” she said. “The only other time… one thing, however, that strikes me as central – it’s not one thing – my fans were the only ones I felt the unconditional love of, like my unconditional fans.”
