Encarnacion, too, had a fear of injury when he dipped for a ground ball that carried him into the inning. He stayed in the game.
Gordon's comments were not made public when the Yankees Clubhouse was open. During the few minutes that Happ spoke to reporters, he was not questioned about hitting Gordon with the pitch.

At his first appearance Thursday, Gordon witnessed five throws of Happ. Each of them stayed on the outside of the plate or sat in the middle of the hitting area. He walked and was then thrown out to try to steal the second goal.
The only two fields where he attended the second appearance of his plate were in the interior. The first was a 90 mph fast two-seamed ball, located just below the belt, called a strike. The second was the one who hit it.
