Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 adds new "dream events"

[ad_1]

Although most of the mini-games you'll find in Mario & Sonic at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, coming in November, are (relatively) steeped in reality, three new 'dream events' are added to the rotation. Watch the Dream Events trailer for Mario and Sonic at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games above.

New dream events include Dream Shooting, Dream Karate and Dream Racing.

In Dream Shooting, you run around a Japanese mansion and flying giant kites to score points. In Dream Racing, you'll catch a hoverboard (a bit like Sonic Riders) and make your way downhill while performing aerial tricks, grinding rails and collecting bonuses inspired by Mario Kart's style. In Dream Karate, you will try to defeat your opponents on a large platform that will light up in different sections. Whenever an enemy falls by the hand, this section of the platform will illuminate the color of your team and the one that dominates the most space on the platform wins.

These dream events are significantly more fantastic than most other Mario & Sonic events at the Olympic Games. These include sports such as skateboarding, 100 meters, surfing, gymnastics, etc.

Mario & Sonic at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games is also offering new retro-style 2D events to be held at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. There, characters from the Mario and Sonic universe will engage in 2D versions of other Olympic sports such as vault, judo and team volleyball, while resembling their original 2D drawings.

Mario & Sonic at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games will be available on Nintendo Switch on November 5th for North America and November 8th for Europe.
