NBC’s Benson / Stabler reunion is drawing closer – but don’t worry, Mariska Hargitay and Chris Meloni are safely apart on the Law and Order: SVU together.
Both Hargitay and Meloni shared selfies with each other on Friday while presumably filming an upcoming one. SVU episode which will bring together their former partners. “We’re a little closer,” Meloni wrote in his photo, which shows Hargitay sitting a few feet behind him. Hargitay later hit back with a similar photo titled ‘Now even closer’, with Meloni smiling in the background.
The snapshots on set are just the latest photographic evidence of Meloni’s return to the SVU to fold. In December, showrunner Warren Leight posted a screenshot of a virtual SVU reading of the table, which included Meloni among the participating actors. “Well, we had a pretty good read,” Leight wrote at the time.
Meloni, as previously stated, will return to the Law and order franchise in a new Stabler-centric series with subtitles Organized crime. The actor confirmed last July that Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler will also be sharing an on-screen reunion, which is set to take the form of Meloni’s premiere. SVU appearance since the show’s release almost ten years ago. (Meloni is gone SVU after negotiations for his contract failed at the end of Season 12. When Season 13 began, Stabler had retired from the police without saying anything to his close-knit colleagues; Olivia learned of the devastating news along with the audience.)
Nor Meloni SVU return, nor his Organized crime offshoot, still have a confirmed air date on NBC; Organized crime was absent from the network’s mid-season schedule, and there was no update on a premiere schedule.
