Ailing Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia and Senator Mitt Romney of Utah exchanged blows on Twitter on Saturday after Greene said former President Donald Trump expressed support for her in a phone call .

GOP leaders have faced growing calls to punish Greene, who represents Georgia’s 14th Congressional District, for his past support for conspiracy theories. On Saturday, Greene tweeted that she had a “BIG call” with Trump and said the former president had indicated his support for her amid Democratic calls for his expulsion. “The bloodthirsty media and socialists hate America. Democrats attack me now like they always attack President Trump,” she added.

Romney slammed Greene and Trump’s alleged phone call, tweeting, “Lies from a feather come together: Marjorie Taylor Greene’s nonsense and the ‘big lie’ of a stolen election.”

Greene fired back Saturday afternoon and accused Romney of ignoring the concerns of the American public. “’Republican’ Senator Mitt Romney obviously does not care about the number one concern of the people. Please grow a pair or a spine, ”she tweeted in response.

Greene has faced increasing bipartisan criticism in recent weeks after past social media posts revealed she loved and engaged with conspiracy theories and calls for violence against Democrats .

Democratic MP Jim McGovern on Friday called Minority House Leader Kevin McCarthy a “coward” for failing to strip Greene of his committee duties over reports about him regarding social media activity.

“He’s scared to face people like Marjorie Taylor Greene and the more extreme elements of his party,” McGovern told CNN’s Anderson Cooper. “People who buy into these crazy conspiracy theories, these QAnon theories, and I think he thinks that’s where the energy and excitement of the Republican Party is right now. And it really is. sad because Lincoln’s party has become the party of conspiracy theories. “

Greene had previously indicated his support for the satanic cannibalistic pedophile conspiracy theory known as QAnon, but then distanced himself from it by running for Congress.

But recently revived social media activity and videos show Greene also positively engaged with other online conspiracy theories before taking office, including the idea that Parkland and other shootings in the schools were organized to advance American restrictions on guns.

Democratic Congressman Jimmy Gomez announced Wednesday that he will soon present a resolution to expel Greene from Congress for his past engagement with an online activity “calling for political violence against the Speaker of the House, members of Congress and the ‘former President Barack Obama “.
