Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) Drew bipartisan conviction for putting up a poster stating ‘There are TWO genders’ in response to a trans pride flag displayed outside Rep. Marie Newman’s nearby office ( D-Ill.).

Newman, who has a transgender daughter, posted a video on Twitter Wednesday afternoon when she placed the flag outside her desk after Greene called for the equality law, which aims to protect LGBTQ people from discrimination, “An attack on God’s creation” and “disgusting, immoral and evil”.

In response, Newman tweeted the video and thought, “I thought we were going to display our transgender flag so that she could look at it every time she opened her door.”

Shortly after Newman posted the video online, Greene tweeted a video of Newman upstairs in the House promoting the equality law on the floor of the House, Greene calling Newman’s daughter “your biological son”.

Greene, who lost his committee memberships after promoting messages of violence against Democratic leaders and various conspiracy theories, later Wednesday posted a video she put up a new sign in front of her own office that read: “There are TWO genders: MAN AND WOMAN. “Trust the science! “

“I thought we were going to put ours on so she could look at it every time she opens her door,” Greene tweeted.

Fellow lawmakers were quick to criticize Greene for his response, along with fellow Illinois Democratic representative Newman. “This hate is exactly why the #EqualityAct is needed and what we need to protect against @ RepMarieNewman’s daughter and all of our LGBTQ + relatives,” Casten tweeted.

“It’s sad and I’m sorry that happened,” Kinzinger said of Greene’s sign. “Representative. Newmans’ daughter is transgender, and this video and tweet represents the policy of self-promotion driven by hate and fame at all costs. This trash must end for #RestoreOurGOP.”

Newman, however, says she never wanted the trans pride flag to break out in “tit-for-tat,” with Greene, tell CNN Alisyn camerota Thursday morning that she just intended to “make a statement so that she [Greene] sees LGBTQ + people. ”

“I am extremely proud of my daughter and that’s all everyone asks for is to be treated like anyone else, and that’s what I want Rep Greene to see” , Newman said.

“I wasn’t concerned with his reaction,” she added of Greene’s sign. “What I wanted her to do was see the LGBTQ community and understand that equality is too late, so it doesn’t matter to me.

“She can go on with that no matter what she does, and I’m not interested in that,” Newman continued. “What interests me now is to take the turn and get back to work.”
