Mark Consuelos teases reboot of Primetime’s ‘All My Children’ in development

The long-running daytime soap opera All my children for the first time on ABC in 2011, but it could make a return to its original network. Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, who both starred in the series in the 1990s and early 2000s, star in a sequel to the soap opera titled Pine valley.

About ‘Pine Valley’

According to TVLine and Deadline, the show would focus on a young reporter who has a secret program that will expose “the dark and murderous history of Pine Valley”. Meanwhile, the reporter will be embroiled in a feud between the Kane and Santos families.

Ripa and Conseulous are the executive production of the project, which is written and produced by Leo Richardson. He previously worked on Lee Daniels’ Star as well as The CW’s Riverdale spin off, Katy Keene. He also has soap opera experience, having written on the British soap opera, Eastenders. Andrew Stearn Robert Nixon, who is the son of the late All my children designer Agnes Nixon is also an executive producer.

As Deadline reports:

Pine valley will feature a new generation of characters and old favorites. There is currently no deal in place with the original cast members, but the plan is to invite a number of them to make an appearance, with Ripa and Consuelos able to make a cameo as well. Pine Valley plans to continue the legacy of the original series of tackling tough issues and being inclusive.

While the show airs at night, not daytime, it will pay homage to its daytime soap roots, with an “accentuated tone and nod to the daytime soap genre similar to the CW.” Jane the Virgin paid tribute to telenovelas.

In an interview on the CBS talk show The speech, Consuelos teased what is. continue the project in its early stages of development.

“Dude, you know All my children was such a big part of my life and my wife’s life, and you know, I met my wife there, obviously I had kids and I became a young man on that show, ” he said, as reported by Soap Opera Digest. “We had the opportunity to restart the prime time version and the idea was brought to us and we are very excited. Of all the things that we have announced and are going to do, this is one of the most important responses that we have received from our fans, they are so excited. This is a great piece of TV that has been missing for so long and we are going to bring it back and I am delighted with it.

We asked Consuelos which characters could appear Pine Valley, but admitted that he was not sure yet and that some of these decisions were beyond his control. “I think these decisions are way above my salary scale, but I know they’re going to bring back some fan favorites and it’s going to be in Pine Valley and I’m really, really excited,” he said.
